Notion restores access to Anthropic after service disruption

Notion’s Integration Issue with Anthropic
Notion recently experienced a disruption in its integration with Anthropic. Early Sunday morning, the company announced that Anthropic’s Opus 4.7 and 4.8 models were facing degraded performance. This issue led to a higher rate of failures for users who selected these models in Notion AI. As a consequence, Notion decided to temporarily disable the use of all Anthropic models in its productivity tool. The company communicated this update promptly, helping users understand the root cause.
Temporary Service Disruption and Resolution
About twelve hours after the initial announcement, Notion’s head of product, Max Schoening, commented on social media. He expressed surprise at the attention the post had received, noting that many people seemed eager to attribute the incident to broader concerns about model quality. Schoening clarified the situation, stating, “The degraded performance was a temporary service disruption. This happens. It happens to Notion, GitHub, AWS, your OpenClaw, and everything in between.” His emphasis was on the normalcy of such disruptions in modern cloud-based services.
Anthropic’s Response and Restoration of Service
Meanwhile, an Anthropic spokesperson explained that a brief infrastructure issue had caused elevated errors across multiple Claude models for a short period. They assured users that the issue had been quickly resolved. Notion restored access to Anthropic’s models after the disruption was addressed. Both companies expressed their gratitude for users’ patience and understanding while normal service was being reinstated. Transitioning back to regular operations, Notion and Anthropic demonstrated their commitment to transparent communication and reliable service for their user communities.
